I am a Registered Psychotherapist in private practice in central/east Toronto, at 177 Danforth Avenue, just around the corner from Broadview subway station.
I started working in the field of emotional health over 30 years ago, beginning in 1981 at the C. M. Hincks Treatment Centre, which is now Hincks-Dellcrest. I worked on the Adolescent Residential Service there for many years, providing individual, milieu and family therapy at the Hincks’ Farm, and at the City Unit. Over time my practice has shifted towards working with kids, teens and adults in individual psychotherapy.
Emotional struggles mark us all as human. My training and orientation is psychoanalytic psychotherapy, a treatment approach that honours your unique sense of yourself. Psychoanalytic (or psychodynamic) psychotherapy is the process of trying, together, to make sense of difficult feelings and troublesome relationships, and to find relief in the context of a helpful therapeutic relationship. I welcome individuals of all ages for psychotherapy, families for family therapy, couples grappling with relationship issues, and parents sorting out the challenges of parenting.
I am a graduate (1992), faculty member, and clinical supervisor of the Toronto Child Psychotherapy Program, recently re-named the Canadian Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. I am a member of the Canadian Association of Psychoanalytic Child Therapists and a post-academic candidate and member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Advancement of Self Psychology, an adult psychoanalytic training institute in Toronto.
I am a member of the International Association of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology, and a guest member of both the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society and the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
Over the past 20 years I have served as a member of the board, secretary, president and past-president of Kidfix (the Child Psychotherapy Foundation of Canada), a charitable organization devoted to making psychotherapy available to abused and neglected children who would otherwise go without.
I have an associated interest in Family Mediation, and I have completed the Advanced Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Management from Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo. I am in the process of completing accreditation with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (ADRIO) in mediation, and arbitration.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have about therapy. I look forward to speaking with you.
